Bracken Bat Cave Experience at Bracken Cave

The Bracken Bat Cave Experience offers an opportunity to witness the evening emergence of more than 15 million Mexican free-tailed bats, the world’s largest bat colony, as they begin their nightly hunt. The event takes place Friday, August 21, 2026, with hors d’oeuvres, beer, and wine beginning at 6:30 pm. Gates close at 6:45 pm, and the bats are expected to emerge at approximately 8 pm.
A representative of Bracken Cave Preserve will provide a presentation about the bats and the preserve. Proceeds from the fundraiser support the Preserve Our Hill Country Environment Foundation’s efforts related to the proposed open-pit mine and quarry near Bulverde and New Braunfels, with a portion also benefiting Bat Conservation International. Dry Comal Creek Vineyards and Winery and Oak Valley Vineyard are among the event sponsors.
The event takes place at Bracken Cave, 26101 FM 3009, San Antonio, TX 78266. Parking is limited, so carpooling is encouraged. Rideshare services are not recommended due to pickup logistics. Directions and additional event details are provided after ticket purchase. For tickets and more information, visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/bracken-cave-bat-experience-2026-tickets-1992168848654.
