Intro To Rapids Paddle Board Class at Paddle TX

Learn the basics of safely navigating rapids on a paddle board during the Intro To Rapids class hosted by Paddle TX in New Braunfels. Designed for beginner and intermediate paddlers, this guided class teaches participants how to read river conditions and confidently paddle through moving water on the Guadalupe River.

The course includes instruction on identifying water features such as spray, current flow, and color changes, along with guidance on body positioning, turning techniques, elevation changes, and essential river safety equipment. Participants will paddle through six Class 1 rapids during a downriver excursion led by instructors Stacy Thigpen, Lisa Epperson Lester, and Julia Smith.

Guests may bring their own paddle board for $20 or rent one from Paddle TX for $50, which includes required equipment. Shuttle transportation back to the starting point and one bottled water are included. River shoes, a PFD, and a paddle are required for participation.

The Intro To Rapids class takes place on Sunday, May 31, from 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm at Paddle TX, located at 1273 River Terrace, New Braunfels, TX 78130.

Participants must be ages 15 and older. Pets are not permitted for this class. Payment will be collected onsite.
