Masskrugstemmen – Bier Stein Holding Contest at Krause’s Cafe
An event every week that begins at 8:00 pm on Saturday, repeating until August 1, 2026
A traditional German strength competition returns to Krause’s Cafe with the 2026 Masskrugstemmen season, taking place on May 30, June 6, June 20, June 27, July 11, and July 18, with the finals on August 1. Each event runs from 8 pm to 9 pm, with registration beginning at 7 pm in the Biergarten.
Masskrugstemmen is a classic Bavarian contest where participants hold a liter of German beer straight out in front of them for as long as possible. The last person still holding their stein wins. The competition is open to both men and women, and each event’s winners will receive their own stein.
Entry is $20 per participant. The top three competitors from each round will advance to the finals on August 1 at 8 pm. Final winners in both the men’s and women’s divisions will receive a prize package that includes a weekend trip to New York City from September 18 to September 20, with airfare, hotel accommodations, and VIP experiences included.
The event takes place at Krause’s Cafe in New Braunfels.
