Physics of Flight at the Science Mill

Take to the skies this Labor Day Weekend with Physics of Flight at the Science Mill in Johnson City. From August 30 through September 1, guests of all ages can explore the science of aerodynamics through hands-on activities and live demonstrations that uncover the principles behind flight—from ancient projectiles to modern drones.

Engage in special activities like building and launching your own straw rocket, testing wing designs to explore Bernoulli’s Principle, and examining a custom-built quadcopter to learn how drones fly. These interactive exhibits are designed to inspire budding aerospace engineers and aviation enthusiasts alike.

The event runs Saturday, August 30 from 10 am to 4 pm; Sunday, August 31 from 12 pm to 4 pm; and Monday, September 1 from 10 am to 4 pm. Admission includes access to all activities. On Saturday, August 30, guests can also meet special visitors, including Master Naturalists and retired Air Force pilot Ken Langley, who will represent the Experimental Aircraft Association’s Young Eagles program, which introduces youth to aviation.
