šŸ’§ WATER STRATEGY TAKES CENTER STAGE IN NEW BRAUNFELS

How drought, growth, and Canyon Lake are shaping the city’s water plans

As of May 7, Canyon Lake sits at just 46.1% full—down from nearly 58.5% this time last year. With Central Texas stuck in an exceptional drought and the New Braunfels population expected to double by 2040, the pressure is on to find sustainable water solutions.

City leaders and NBU say they're ahead of the curve. Seven different sources supply the city’s water, and NBU expects to meet demand through 2042, or even 2063 with conservation. Plans to expand the city's water reclamation facility and pursue Aquifer Storage Recovery (ASR) are already in the works.

But nonprofit leaders like Ryan Spencer of Comal Conservation are warning that every drop counts—and that low water levels will also impact tourism, recharge rates, and private wells if the drought persists.

Celebrate with live music, carving stations, and classic brunch favorites

Make Mom feel extra special this Sunday with a reservation at Krause’s Cafe. Their annual Mother’s Day Brunch will run from 9 am to 12:30 pm with live music by Jorge & Nicole and food stations including hand-carved meats, pancakes, omelets, eggs Benedict, fresh fruit, and more.

Reservations are $50 for adults and $20 for kids 12 and under. Seating is timed, so arrive as close to your ticket time as possible.

If you’re a homeowner, you know unexpected expenses are par for the course. One way to help shield your finances is to get a home warranty. Unlike homeowners insurance, which covers natural disasters and theft, a home warranty could help safeguard you against costly repairs of eligible essential home appliances and systems due to normal wear and tear.
