🏨 LOCAL HISTORY: THE STORY OF THE FAUST HOTEL
The Faust Hotel has been a cornerstone of New Braunfels since its grand opening on October 12, 1929—just two weeks before the stock market crash. Originally named The Traveler’s Hotel, it was one of Texas’ finest, quickly becoming a hub for business travelers and families.
Despite the hardships of the Great Depression, the hotel remained open thanks to the persistence of its founder, Walter Faust Sr.
Renamed in his honor in 1936, The Faust Hotel gained fame during World War II as the "honeymoon capital of Texas," hosting soldiers and their sweethearts before they were deployed.
Today, the Faust stands as a proud Texas Historic Landmark and is listed on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places, continuing to welcome guests with a blend of rich history and timeless charm.
