Homemade boats. Cardboard chaos. Crowd-favorite tradition.
Get ready for one of New Braunfels’ quirkiest events—Thru the Chute is back on Saturday, April 26 at the City Tube Chute.
Watch as brave competitors launch their homemade cardboard boats down the chute in front of a cheering crowd. It’s free to attend, but you’ll want to get there early—spectator space is limited!
Boat check-in begins at 7:30 am, with the first launch at 10 am. Don’t forget: no alcohol or disposable containers allowed on the riverbanks, and parking is available at Prince Solms Park and other nearby public lots.

Live music, giveaways, and country pride at its finest.
Radio NB is celebrating 75 years of KGNB with a Birthday Bash at Gruene Hall on Monday, April 21 from 5 to 8 pm—and everyone’s invited!
There’ll be live country music, chances to win cool prizes (including a custom KGNB acoustic guitar!), free food from The Gristmill while it lasts, and $3 Michelob Ultra from 5 to 8 pm.
First beer’s on the house, so get there early—and raise a glass to 75 years of local country radio!

🏫 A NEW HOME FOR TEENS IN NEW BRAUNFELS
The former Mill Street school will become the Mill Street Youth Center.
Big news for local youth: the NBISD Board of Trustees has approved transferring the Mill Street building to the New Braunfels Youth Collaborative (NBYC).
The nonprofit will transform the space into a teen-focused community center offering free activities and support programs for middle and high schoolers.
With access to both the former school and the gym across the street, the new Mill Street Youth Center will fill a key gap in services for local teens and families.
