Spring has sprung in New Braunfels, and we believe it’s one of the best times of year in this great city. It’s the perfect time to get outside, enjoy local events, and experience everything the city has to offer before the summer crowds arrive.
From egg hunts and live music to festivals and outdoor adventures, there’s something happening nearly every weekend.
Here are some of the best things to do this spring in New Braunfels.
Featured Event: Mayfest
Date: Saturday, May 9
Mayfest returns for its third year as one of the most anticipated spring events in New Braunfels, bringing together live music, local food, and a vibrant community atmosphere in the growing Mayfair development. Set in Midtown and the surrounding model homes, this event offers a perfect mix of entertainment, exploration, and family-friendly fun.
Visitors can enjoy a lively afternoon filled with food trucks, refreshing drinks in the bier and wein garden, and a local market inside Celebration Hall. The event also features a home tour showcasing a variety of beautifully designed model homes from top builders, giving guests a chance to explore the latest in home design and inspiration.
1. Egg Hunts Around Town
Date: Multiple Dates
Spring in New Braunfels kicks off with a full lineup of Easter egg hunts happening across the city. Two of the most popular include the Aqua Egg Hunt at Das Rec Leisure Pool on March 27, where kids dive for eggs in the water ($8 early registration or $12 day of), and the Spring Egg Hunt at Cypress Bend Park on March 28 ($8 per person).
There are plenty of additional hunts hosted by local churches, neighborhoods, and organizations, making it easy to find one close to home.
2. Live @ Landa Concert Series
Date: March 19, April 16, May 21, June 18, July 4 (special concert before fireworks)
Live @ Landa is one of the most popular spring traditions in New Braunfels, bringing free live music to the Dance Slab in Landa Park. This family-friendly concert series runs once a month from March through July and features local and regional bands playing everything from country and classic rock to folk and Tejano.
The event runs from 6 to 9 pm and includes kids’ activities and food trucks, with proceeds supporting the New Braunfels Parks Foundation. Bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for a relaxing evening under the trees.
3. Float the Comal River
Date: Every Day
As temperatures start to warm up, floating the Comal River becomes a must-do spring activity. The City Tube Chute is open year-round, making it one of the first places locals and visitors head when the weather turns nice.
Tube rentals and lifeguards typically return in full force by May, but early spring floats offer a quieter, more relaxed experience.
4. Spring Fever Fest at Natural Bridge Caverns
Date: Weekends starting March 28
Spring Fever Fest kicks off March 28 and runs on weekends throughout the season, offering free family-friendly activities like live music, kids’ games, crafts, pollinator exhibits, and workshops.
Admission is free, though there is a $10 parking fee, making it an easy and affordable outing for families.
5. New Braunfels Spring Market
Date: April 3-4
The New Braunfels Spring Market returns to the Convention Center, featuring over 100 small businesses selling everything from handmade goods and home décor to jewelry and seasonal gifts.
Admission is $5 (good for both days), kids 12 and under are free, and parking is free, making it a great weekend shopping event.
6. Thru the Chute
Date: April 11
One of the most unique (and entertaining) events of the year, Thru the Chute takes place on April 11 and features participants racing through the tube chute in homemade cardboard boats.
The event has grown so popular that tickets are now required, but even if you don’t snag one, several local bars host watch parties where you can still enjoy the action.
7. Sweaty Yeti Trail Run
Date: April 11
The Sweaty Yeti Trail Run returns to Landa Park, offering an 8-mile race, 5K, walk, and kids’ Yeti chase.
This unique event celebrates the outdoors and benefits the Comal Trails Alliance, helping support trail development in the area.
8. FolkFest 2026
Date: April 11
FolkFest takes place April 11 from 10 am to 8 pm and brings history to life with demonstrations like blacksmithing, candle making, and woodworking, along with live music, dancers, food vendors, and family activities.
It’s one of the best events of the year for experiencing the culture and heritage of early Texas.
9. Fischer Park Date Night
Date: April 17
Looking for something a little different? Fischer Park Date Night offers a laid-back evening for couples with a picnic-style setup in one of the city’s most scenic parks.
At $40 per couple, it’s a great option for a casual but memorable night out.
10. New Braunfels Historic Homes Tour
Date: April 18
Step back in time during the Historic Homes Tour, one of the best chances to explore the deep history of this amazing town. This self-guided tour showcases some of the city’s most historic homes and buildings.
Tickets are $20 and can be purchased at Historic Old Town or on the day of the event.
11. Doggie Dip Day
Date: April 25
Dog lovers won’t want to miss Doggie Dip Day at the Landa Park Aquatic Complex on April 25 from 12 to 4 pm. For $10 per dog, pups get the rare chance to splash around in the spring-fed pool.
This event only happens twice a year and is always a hit with local pet owners.
12. Hill Country Craft Beer Festival
Date: April 25
The Hill Country Craft Beer Festival takes place April 25 at the Wurstfest Grounds and features more than 30 Texas breweries and wineries pouring over 125 beverages.
With live music, food, and competitions, it’s one of the top spring events for adults in New Braunfels.
13. New Braunfels “Jamboree” Train Show
Date: April 25-26
Train enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Jamboree Train Show on April 25–26 at the New Braunfels Civic Center. Featuring model railroads, exhibits, and vendors, it’s a fun event for all ages.
Admission is $10 for adults and $3 for children, with proceeds benefiting the New Braunfels Railroad Museum.
14. Honky Tonk Thursdays at Gruene Hall
Date: Every Thursday
Gruene Hall’s Honky Tonk Thursdays spotlight up-and-coming country artists in one of Texas’ most iconic venues. These shows are free, open to all ages, and benefit the SIMS Foundation, which supports mental health services for musicians.
Dance lessons are offered for $12 the hour before each show, making it a fun way to learn a few moves before the music starts.
15. Saengerfest
Date: May 2
One of the most popular festivals of the year is set to come back this spring. Saengerfest returns May 2 from 12 to 10 pm at Main Plaza in downtown New Braunfels. This free festival features live music, food vendors, craft beer and wine, shopping, and family-friendly activities. Cody Canada and The Departed have been announced as this year’s headliner. It’s one of the biggest and most anticipated events of the spring season.
16. Schlitterbahn
Date: Opens May 2
Schlitterbahn opens for the season on May 2, marking the unofficial start of summer in New Braunfels. This year introduces a new attraction, Wasserbahn Racers, a high-speed racing slide where riders can compete side-by-side with timed results.
With ongoing park improvements and new experiences, it’s a must-visit destination every spring.
