Comal Cops for Kids 18th Annual Gruene Turkey Trot 5K & Kids Turkey Chase at Gruene Hall

The Comal Cops for Kids Foundation hosts its 18th Annual Gruene Turkey Trot 5K & Kids Turkey Chase on Thursday, November 26, 2026, in the Gruene Historic District. The Thanksgiving morning tradition begins with a 5K run/walk at 8:30 a.m., starting and finishing in front of Gruene Hall, Texas’ oldest dance hall. Children ages 12 and under can also take part in the quarter-mile Kids Turkey Chase at 9:30 a.m., following a turkey mascot through Gruene.

Race-day registration and packet pickup begin at 7 a.m. The 5K entry fee is $40 on race day, while the Kids Turkey Chase costs $20. Early registration offers reduced rates, and online registration closes at 8 a.m. on race day. Participants can also pick up packets early November 23–25, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., at Two Rivers Running, 1265 N. Academy in New Braunfels. Early pickup participants are eligible for a prize drawing that includes at least five $50 Two Rivers Running gift cards.

Proceeds support local charities and programs that benefit children and strengthen law enforcement community initiatives, including Blue Santa and Green Santa. The foundation has awarded more than $430,000 in grants to Comal County organizations. Awards will be presented to top 5K finishers overall, masters runners ages 40 and older, and age-group winners. The Kids Turkey Chase does not include age-group awards.
