United Way Speaker Series: Billy Bob Thornton & The Boxmasters at Gruene Hall

The United Way of Comal County presents a special edition of the United Way Speaker Series featuring Academy Award–winning actor and musician Billy Bob Thornton alongside his band, The Boxmasters. The event takes place on Thursday, September 25, 2025, with doors and buffet breakfast at 9 am, followed by the program at 10 am.

Led by Mattson Rainer, General Manager of KGNB/KNBT Radio New Braunfels, the panel discussion will offer insight into Thornton’s multifaceted career in film, television, and music, along with The Boxmasters’ prolific run as a touring rock band inspired by 1960s influences.

Billy Bob Thornton, known for his Oscar-winning film Sling Blade, acclaimed roles in Monster’s Ball and A Simple Plan, and his current performance in Paramount+’s Landman, is also the frontman of The Boxmasters. Since forming in 2006 with J.D. Andrew, the band has released 19 albums and toured internationally, sharing the stage with artists like ZZ Top and Steve Miller. Their latest record, Pepper Tree Hill, continues their signature retro-infused sound.

Tickets are $125 and include buffet breakfast. Proceeds benefit United Way of Comal County, with a portion directed toward flood relief efforts. Sponsorships with front table seating are available at uwcomal.org.
