A Big Live Music Weekend is Coming to Happy Cow

With new bars popping up all over New Braunfels, it’s easy to forget about the places that have been doing live music right for years. Just off I-35 in Hunter, Happy Cow Bar & Grill has been a go-to Hill Country hangout since 2009, and this upcoming weekend is shaping up to be one of its best yet.

If you’ve been meaning to plan a night out with great music, cold drinks, and a laid-back crowd, here’s your excuse.

The fun starts Friday night when Lowland Revelry returns to Happy Cow Bar & Grill from 8:00 pm to 11:30 pm for a special single release party.

Release shows always carry a little extra energy, and there’s something about hearing new music live, surrounded by a hometown crowd, that makes the night feel memorable.

Then on Saturday, the Cameron Allbright Band takes over for an indoor show in the evening. There’s no cover, and the venue is 21 and up after 8 pm.

Allbright, a New Braunfels native, has been gaining serious momentum across the Texas music scene. With a soulful voice, strong Texas songwriting roots, and a debut record, Any Part of Life, that’s turning heads, he’s already had songs land on the Texas Music Chart and receive radio play statewide.

He was recently signed to Randy Rogers’ artist management company, a major step for any rising Texas artist. For locals, this might be one of those rare chances to see a hometown talent in an intimate setting before he starts booking much larger venues.

Part of what makes weekends like this special is the venue itself. Happy Cow manages to feel worlds away from the traffic and development along the interstate.

The 17,000-square-foot outdoor space, known as the Happy Cow Backyard, has hosted countless local, regional, and even national touring acts over the years. Many artists have played here early in their careers before moving on to bigger stages, making it one of the best spots in the area to discover rising talent.

Add in a full bar, solid comfort food like burgers and wings, and a welcoming mix of regulars and first-timers, and you’ve got the kind of Hill Country hangout that still feels authentic.

If you’ve been looking for an excuse to get out, grab a drink, and hear some great Texas music this weekend, Happy Cow just gave you two solid reasons.
