Billy’s Ice to Close in Late September

An iconic New Braunfels bar and music venue has announced it will be closing its doors after nearly 20 years. Last Friday, Billy’s Ice announced in a Facebook post that their property has been sold and will be closed on around October 1st, meaning the popular bar will have to close its doors at the end of September.

“This is a post I knew would come at some point but it doesn’t make it any less emotional,” the post reads. “There will be a new business at the location, but Billy’s will live on in our hearts and memories.”

Since opening in 2008, Billy’s Ice has been much more than just another New Braunfels bar. What began as a drive-thru convenience store was transformed by founder Bill Sisoian and his son, Nick, into a beloved live music venue and community gathering spot.

Over the years, the Loop 337 hangout became a stage for local and touring artists alike and a home for countless benefit events.

By their own estimate, Billy’s has helped raise more than $1 million for causes ranging from cancer patients to veterans to flood victims. Most recently, they hosted a fundraiser for the Kerr County Flood Relief Fund following July’s devastating floods.

That mix of cold beer, live music, and giving back made Billy’s Ice a cornerstone of the New Braunfels experience.

Before the doors close for good, Billy’s Ice plans to go out in style. The venue will host a three-day farewell festival September 26–28, bringing back many of the artists who helped shape its legacy.

The lineup includes Mark Allan Atwood, The Statesboro Revue, Alli Mattice Band, Zach Talbert & The Silver Lining, Dynamite Eldorado, Kayla Jane, 3 Man Front, Carlton Pride and Mighty Zion, and many more.

The event, fittingly named Billy’s Last Hurrah, promises to be one of the biggest weekends in the bar’s history.

Though the bar itself will close, the owners hinted at a “Chapter 2” for Billy’s Ice in the future.

For now, though, the focus is on celebrating the final weeks and saying goodbye to a place that has left an undeniable mark on the Hill Country music and nightlife scene.

Billy’s Ice is located at 1193 Loop 337 in New Braunfels and will remain open until the end of September. Follow their Facebook page for the latest announcements leading up to the bar’s closure.
