There’s a new kind of day retreat coming to New Braunfels this month, and it’s happening at one of the hottest new spots in town.
This weekend, on Saturday, September 6, the newly renovated Hacienda Del Rio will host its first-ever Hot Girl Day Retreat, a full day of wellness, relaxation, and riverfront fun designed to bring a little big-city energy to the heart of Gruene.
Guests can expect a morning Pilates class overlooking the Guadalupe, followed by a fresh farm-to-table breakfast to fuel the day.
From there, the retreat splits into two groups. VIP ticket holders will set off on a guided float down the river with transportation back to the resort, while general admission guests can soak up the amenities, from the pool and pickleball courts to sand volleyball and the laid-back clubhouse bar.
Both groups meet back together for lunch and a chance to win an overnight stay, all before the day winds down with plenty of time to relax and connect. It’s the kind of event that feels tailor-made for locals who want to step away from the grind and enjoy something upscale without leaving town.
But the retreat is only the beginning of what’s happening at Hacienda Del Rio in September.
Once the Gruene Outpost River Lodge, the property has been given a full makeover by the Texas-based hospitality group French Cowboys. What used to be a tired river lodge has been transformed into a boutique-style resort with 48 renovated rooms, a chic clubhouse and cocktail bar, and outdoor amenities that take advantage of its prime riverfront location, like pickleball, beach volleyball, and a shaded pool deck, along with access to tubing, kayaking, and paddleboarding on the Guadalupe.
Inside, the interiors lean into a modern Spanish-colonial vibe with clean lines, handmade tiles, and colorful accents. It’s all a major step up from the lodge’s rustic past.
Later this month, Hacienda Del Rio will celebrate its official grand opening with a Housewarming Party on Saturday, September 20 with plenty of live music, food trucks, local vendors, and plenty of drinks. This is a party you won’t want to miss.
The goal isn’t just to run another hotel, but to create a gathering space for both visitors and locals. Trivia nights, wellness events, and other community-focused programming are also on the calendar, making it a spot you’ll want to keep on your radar.
